Belize Zoo

Fun fact: The Belize Zoo has a camera policy to prevent professional photographers from taking proper photos unless they pay way too much to bring their cameras/zoom lenses in. And the considered my Rebel with a really crappy entry-level zoom as "professional" (heh), so they made me replace my crappy zoom lens with my (reasonably nice) 50mm while I was there. So... all of these photos are taken with either a 50mm f/1.4 USM or an iphone 4s - it was crazy how close we were!

Frances insisted these were elephants. Funny elephants, I'd say...

Frances was largely indifferent about the "kitty".

She was far more interested in this kitty.

I think this is one of my favourite photos from the trip - I can still hardly believe how close we were!

Or, as we like to call them, Stinky Pigs.

I cannot for the life of me remember what this is called - this is why posting on Saturday morning is a bad idea!

I think this is just a white-tailed deer because this guy looked extremely familiar!

This is the only photo of the lot that has been cropped. Gotta show the mother-daughter love!

Frances had two favourite parts of the zoo. The first was petting the boa constrictor (I'm choked that we didn't get a picture!), and the second was eating an ice cream treat. Smart girl.

(The Beach is next, promise... Maybe.)
