Despite the drama of finding a dog-friendly hotel room, and the whole ruminant ordeal, last weekend was spectacular.
On Friday afternoon, we started the weekend with a fairly easy 2-hour hike in the Spray Lakes area. Steve said it was going to be a flat hike (I despise elevation gain, which is a bit tricky when one likes to play in the Rockies), but he lied. It wasn't that bad, but it was definitely up. Hm.
(On the drive down, we stopped at Atmosphere in Calgary and I bought new hiking boots. I'm now forever in the debt of The North Face because... no blisters for the first time in years.)
(I think Frances had a blast, but she definitely preferred being in her the carrier to walking. We'll get her carrying her own weight soon enough.)
(Waimak was just all-around thrilled to be in his version of Disney Land.)

On Saturday, we stepped it up a notch and managed about 15km around Upper Kananaskis Lake, with a 22lbs baby and working dog in tow. It was phenomenal.
(For scale, check out the canoe on the right hand side of the picture - you can see the line along the top of the lake leading to a yellowish dot. That's how big our favourite backyard playground is.)
(Waimak packed our water and lunch. He's so thoughtful.)
(Frances, on the other hand, was decidedly unhelpful. But also unbearably cute. What to do?)
(All in all, a pretty sweet-as trip.)
