Commuting in Edmonton: Littering

Stupid commuters annoy me.

Thoughtless commuters piss me off.

Littering commuters make me want to foam at the mouth, snarl, bare my teeth, attack the offender with their own dismembered body parts take videos to post on You Tube in the hopes of finding and embarrassing the hell out of the people who think littering is ok.

Because I'm weird like that.

In the last couple of weeks, I've rediscovered how stupid/thoughtless/gross people are when they're commuting to/from downtown Edmonton.  (My left eye is starting to twitch just thinking about it.)

Exhibit A:  People who text/do their make-up/shave while driving.  I'm not kidding.  People do this all the time.  Goodness knows how Darwin hasn't taken care of these problem drivers yet.

Exhibit B:  People who don't signal/run red lights/don't yield to pedestrians/weave aggressively are stupid, but I think they're mostly thoughtless.  It doesn't occur to them that they're not the only people on the roads.  It's scary, to be honest.

Exibit C: OMG this makes me angry.  It is crazy how many people litter from their car windows.  Like, insane.  People in Toyotas, Hondas, Subarus, Audis, Fords, everything.  From cars that are old, new, beaters, gorgeous, hybrids, diesel, everything.  The worst offenders are the holier-than-thou smokers who litter butts out the car window. (And I know a lot of smokers don't do this - It's just that... the ones who do make it look bad for everyone.)  Then there are the fast-food garbage offenders.  They throw actual bags of garbage into the street.  *hyperventilating with rage*  Yesterday, I followed a woman for 15 minutes who didn't stop throwing nut shells out of her window the entire time I was following her.  I thought I was either going to vomit or rear-end the woman.  Gah.

Ok.  Rant done.

(I'm one of those people who picks up garbage when I go walking.  When I'm on the river, it's not uncommon for me to toss some offending piece of trash into the back of my boat so that I can dispose of it somewhere less scenic.  When we're hiking, we almost always end up with more trash than we left with.  I'm even one of those really annoying people who will cheerfully tell litterers something like "Hi! I think you may have accidentally dropped this pop-can/Timmie's-cup/McDonalds-trash!"  My mom actually takes a large garbage bag with her on walks so that she can pick up other people's mess.  So - If you litter, please stop.  It's gross.  Also, not nice.  And we don't have nearly enough nice in the world, so step-up.  =)
